Some oceanfront room categories at Sheraton Kona have views of Keauhou Bay, while others look directly out over the Pacific. On the shore immediately below here are the ruins of a Hawaiian fishing village, of which the hotel’s cultural staff will give a complimentary tour on certain days of the week. Long favored as a swimming and surfing place by the ali’i, or chiefs, the mouth of the bay was the birthplace of Kauikeaouli, later better known as Kamehameha III.
